Trey Mancini Pens Emotional Goodbye to City of Baltimore

Updated:

After playing the first six years of his career for the Orioles and endearing himself to the city of Baltimore, Trey Mancini was officially traded ahead of Tuesday's MLB Trade Deadline. Mancini is now with the Houston Astros, but that didn't truncate the emotional departure.

Mancini took to his Twitter late on Monday night to pen an emotional goodbye letter to the city of Baltimore.

Mancini is close to a loss of words, but kept his message simple. "Playing for the Orioles organization and for the city of Baltimore was a dream come true for me. However, my love for Baltimore transcends baseball."

He goes on to discuss how his life was saved in Baltimore after a battle with cancer, and how he met his soon-to-be wife in the same city he called home.

"To every teammate along the way, to every coach, trainer, and staff member, to both front offices, to the Angelos family, and most importantly, to the fans - thank you for the best ten years imaginable. I love you all."

Mancini will forever be a legend in Baltimore Orioles' history, especially because of the strength and determination he showed in his battle in cancer. He stuck by an organization through a massive rebuild and truly embodied the spirit of Baltimore with his every move.
