Trade Rumors Link Dolphins to Star Pass-Rusher Ahead of Deadline

The Miami Dolphins have shown they're a legit Super Bowl contender over the first eight weeks. Tuesday's trade deadline now presents an opportunity for this team to make a big splash as a buyer to boost their playoff chances.

It turns out Miami could do just that, according to the latest rumors.

NBC Sports' Peter Kings reports the Dolphins are one of the frontrunners to trade for Denver Broncos star Bradley Chubb. The New York Jets are also interested, and both suitors could offer a first-round pick in exchange for Chubb.

The thought of adding Chubb to Miami's defense should make any fan ecstatic. The Dolphins have struggled to generate a strong pass rush in 2022, ranking in the bottom half of the league for team sacks and posting the fourth-lowest pressure rate over the first eight games.

Chubb could immediately alleviate some of these woes. The star EDGE has bounced back in 2022 after missing time over the last few seasons, posting 5.5 sacks, two forced fumbles and eight QB hits in eight starts this season.

Chubb's injury history is one major factor Miami must consider before giving up a first-round pick. He's also an impending free agent, so the Dolphins may not want to surrender premium draft capital if the two sides can't agree on terms of a possible extension.

Chubb's potential exit from Denver is one of the biggest stories to watch leading up to the trade deadline, which is slated for Tuesday at 4 p.m. ET.
