Top Fantasy Football Streaming Quarterbacks for Week 12 (Ryan Tannehill Leads a Limited Pack of Options)

Updated:

The pool of widely available quarterbacks in fantasy football continues to dwindle heading into Week 12. Proactive managers are stashing backup options and holding onto potential starters as the playoffs draw closer, limiting the number of streamers on the waiver wire.

Still, fantasy managers with injured or underperforming starting QBs may be looking for a temporary fill-in. Here's a look at our top three streaming quarterback picks (rostered in fewer than 50% of Yahoo! leagues) to target on the waiver wire.

3. Kenny Pickett, Pittsburgh Steelers (@ IND)

It's taken some time, but Pittsburgh Steelers rookie QB Kenny Pickett is starting to find his way in the NFL. The 24-year-old took down the New Orleans Saints in Week 10 with his legs (51 rushing yards & 1 touchdown) before keeping it close against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 11 with his arm (265 passing yards, 1 touchdown). He is averaging over 17 fantasy points per game over the last two weeks and now faces an Indianapolis Colts defense that has given up 4 rushing touchdowns to opposing QBs this season (T-No. 27 in NFL). Pittsburgh has been moving the ball on offense and all it takes is one QB sneak into the end zone for Pickett to finish as a low-end QB1 this week.

2. Jacoby Brissett, Cleveland Browns (vs TB)

Another QB seemingly flying under the radar is Jacoby Brissett. The Cleveland Browns starter finished as the No. 4 QB in fantasy scoring last week after torching a talented Buffalo Bills defense for a season-high 324 yards and 3 touchdowns. The emergence of Donovan Peoples-Jones and the reliability of Amari Cooper has given Brissett a deep arsenal of weapons to throw to. He has a perfect chance to keep the momentum rolling this week against a Tampa Bay Buccaneers defense that is missing veterans Shaq Barrett and Logan Ryan. It's also worth mentioning that Tampa Bay has allowed 2 or more passing touchdowns in seven of its last eight games. Cleveland is expected to play from behind in this one, too, so look for Brissett to let it rip through the air.

1. Ryan Tannehill, Tennessee Titans (vs CIN)

Don't look now, but Ryan Tannehill checks in as the No. 8 quarterback in fantasy football over the past two weeks. With defenses focused on shutting down running back Derrick Henry, the veteran QB is successfully finding the open gaps in the secondary. Tannehill has logged at least 255 passing yards and 2 touchdowns in each of his last two games and draws another appealing matchup on Sunday. The Cincinnati Bengals have given up more than 16 fantasy points to an opposing QB in two of their last three games and have only racked up 16 sacks on the season (No. 30 in NFL). A clean pocket will give Tannehill an opportunity to make it three straight top-12 fantasy weeks.
