Week 16 of the NFL season featured several impressive defensive performances across the league, including from teams that weren't widely rostered in fantasy. Week 17 presents plenty more matchups to exploit for managers who opt to stream this position, especially with the fantasy playoffs underway.
If you're in need of a defense to play this week, here are our top three streaming defense picks (rostered in fewer than 50% of Yahoo! leagues) to target on the waiver wire.
Week 17 Streaming Fantasy Football Defenses
3. Los Angeles Chargers (vs LAR)
Can this Chargers defense be any hotter? They just held the Indianapolis Colts to just 3 points and 173 yards of total offense on Monday Night Football while forcing 3 turnovers. Los Angeles has surrendered only 34 points in its last three games combined and now gets to face a heavily depleted LA Rams team with nothing to play for in Week 17. The Rams rank 26th in scoring and 31st in total yards, setting up the Chargers for a big fantasy day at home.
2. New York Giants (vs IND)
As mentioned above, the Colts were just embarrassed on Monday Night Football in Nick Foles' first start of the season. Foles was atrocious, going 17-for-29 with 143 yards, no touchdowns and 3 interceptions. It's hard to imagine him getting the start again in Week 17, but Indy's offense has been terrible regardless of who's under center. The Colts rank 31st in scoring and 28th in total yards, as Matt Ryan has been equally disastrous at quarterback. With no Jonathan Taylor and a rookie head coach who doesn't seem to know what he's doing, Indianapolis presents a tantalizing matchup for the Giants at home this week.
1. Jacksonville Jaguars (@ HOU)
Similar to the Chargers, the Jaguars are also a sizzling team coming off a standout defensive performance. Jacksonville limited the New York Jets to a measly 3 points on Thursday Night Football in Week 16, giving them extra time to rest up and prepare for this week's matchup against an abysmal Houston Texans offense. Houston ranks 30th in scoring and 32nd in yards, so don't be surprised if the Jags come up with another stout defensive effort against a team that managed just 13 points against them back in Week 5.
