Top 12 Fantasy Football Defense Rankings for Week 4 (2022)

Updated:

Defenses are usually just an afterthought in fantasy football. That's leaving points on the board though. Savvy fantasy managers will be scouring the waiver wire to capitalize on the best defensive matchups each and every week.

With that in mind, here are the top-12 fantasy football defenses for Week 4 of the 2022 NFL season.

Fantasy Football Defense Rankings Week 4

12. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (vs KC)

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers' defensive unit continues to be the best in fantasy, averaging 15.0 points per game thus far. Nevertheless, the Bucs' defenders do have a tough test against the Kansas City Chiefs, who average 29.3 points — the NFL's fourth-best clip. Unfortunately, that high-powered offense has led to opposing defenses averaging fewer than two points against the Patrick Mahomes-led attack. The Chiefs also don't really turn the ball over or allow Mahomes to be sacked, meaning managers shouldn't expect a huge point total from the Buccaneers D/ST this week.

11. Minnesota Vikings (at NO in London)

10. Los Angeles Chargers (at HOU)

9. Chicago Bears (at NYG)

8. Denver Broncos (at LV)

7. Green Bay Packers (vs NE)

6. Miami Dolphins (at CIN)

The Cincinnati Bengals enter Week 4 after already turning the ball over six times (sixth-most in NFL) while also giving up a league-leading 15 sacks. That's a pretty juicy matchup for a Dolphins that just held the Buffalo Bills to 19 points while recording four sacks and an interception. The Bengals do have their fair share of offensive threats, ranging from Joe Burrow to Ja'Marr Chase to Joe Mixon, but Miami's defenders have proven that they can bend without breaking under head coach Mike McDaniel's watch. Managers should have full confidence starting the Dolphins D/ST, regardless of the opposition's offensive potential.

5. Indianapolis Colts (vs TEN)

4. Dallas Cowboys (vs WAS)

3. Philadelphia Eagles (vs JAX)

2. Cleveland Browns (at ATL)

1. Pittsburgh Steelers (vs NYJ)

The Pittsburgh Steelers may have lost two of their first three games, but that hasn't stopped their defense from being a fantasy asset. The Steelers defense is the fifth-best unit in fantasy thus far and now has a promising showdown with the New York Jets, who are tied for the 12th-worst scoring offense after three weeks. Furthermore, the Jets have committed seven turnovers (T-No. 3) while giving up nine sacks (T-No. 6). Even if Zach Wilson returns to replace Joe Flacco this week, New York's offense is anything but intimidating, meaning the Steelers D/ST is still a must-start.
