Elliott vs Altamirano Prediction

Tim Elliott has not put together the greatest UFC resume by any means as he owns a pedestrian 5-5 record in his last 10 trips to the octagon. He has been hot as of late, though, earning a victory in three of his last four bouts. That includes a unanimous decision win over Tagir Ulanbekov in March of 2022.

On the other side, Victor Altamirano enters with an experience disadvantage given this will only be his fifth fight at the UFC level. He has emerged victorious in three of his first four bouts and looked stellar in his most recent win. That came via unanimous decision over Vinicius Salvador on March 25, 2023.

Given both fighters have momentum, I'll side with the one that has the experience edge. Neither one of these guys is known for their knockout capabilities, which makes it important to note that Elliott averages 3.73 takedowns per 15 minutes and Altamirano averages 2.47 takedowns per 15 minutes.

Winner: Tim Elliott (-162)

Elliott vs Altamirano Best Bet

Elliott has the advantage in terms of his ability to rack up takedowns, but keep in mind Altamirano has posted a great takedown defense rate of 74%. That's why I like this one to be decided by the judges. After all, three of Altamirano's four UFC bouts have ended in a decision as have five of Elliott's last six bouts. These two excel at outlasting an opponent and that skill will be put to the test at UFC Vegas 74.

Bet: Fight to Go the Distance (TBD)
