The 2022-23 NCAA college basketball season continues on Tuesday, Dec. 13, including a clash between The Citadel Bulldogs and North Carolina Tar Heels.

The Citadel could use a win here, looking to bounce back from a 79-57 loss to Charleston that happened back on Dec. 3. Meanwhile, North Carolina hopes to build on the momentum stemming from Saturday's 75-59 victory over Georgia Tech.

Will The Citadel return to the win column tonight? Or does North Carolina just have too much talent for the Bulldogs to handle?

The Citadel vs North Carolina Prediction & Pick

North Carolina may have gone through a bit of a rough patch, but it's a completely different beast at home. The Tar Heels are a perfect 5-0 at Dean E. Smith Center this fall, averaging 79.6 points with a plus-13.4 scoring margin. Even their defense has been strong on home court, holding opponents to 66.2 PPG on a 39.4% field-goal percentage.

It's going to be tough for The Citadel to get much going, especially with the team averaging 13.5 turnovers with an abysmal minus-5.0 scoring margin on the road. If that doesn't make things bad enough, the Bulldogs have also lost 19 of their last 20 games against ACC schools.

With UNC also being 12-2 straight up against its last 14 Southern opponents, it's easy to see why the Tar Heels have the massive edge in this one.

Final Score Prediction: North Carolina: 83 | The Citadel: 67

The Citadel vs North Carolina Betting Trends

- The total has hit the under in seven of North Carolina's last nine games in December.

The Citadel vs North Carolina Best Bet

North Carolina might be the 26.5-point favorite, but I have concerns about the spread being covered. The Tar Heels are an uninspiring 2-8 ATS this season, failing to cover the spread in five of their last six games. Though the Bulldogs certainly don't have more talent, they have at least covered the spread seven times this season and are 6-1 ATS in their last seven road games.

With the UNC offense also being relatively inconsistent lately, I'm erring on the side of caution by taking The Citadel to cover the spread.

Bet: The Citadel +26.5 (-110)
