Justin Fields and the Chicago Bears open up as clear favorites in this Week 3 showdown. That's evidenced by Chicago's -156 moneyline odds and the spread favoring them by 2.5 points. That spread is also poised to grow in the Bears' favor based on the -120 odds.
Texans vs Bears Prediction Week 3
Early NFL predictions and picks are from ESPN's Football Power Index (FPI).
Texans: 44.5% to win
Bears: 54.9% to win
Chicago is a better team, especially on the defensive side of the ball. After a gritty Week 1 win over the San Francisco 49ers, the Bears rank 4th in Football Outsiders' pass-defense DVOA metric. The front seven didn't perform nearly as well, but a backfield of Rex Burkhead and Dameon Pierce doesn't scare me. Even though -120 isn't a great figure, grab Chicago at just 2.5 points while you can before that number increases to 3 or 3.5 points. Bet Bears -2.5 (-120).
