The Cincinnati Bengals suffered another heartbreaking loss in Week 5, losing to the Baltimore Ravens on a walk-off field goal during Sunday Night Football. The divisional defeat dropped the Bengals to 2-3 on the season, with all three of their losses coming by a field goal or less.

Wide receiver Tee Higgins was conspicuously absent for most of the evening, leading observers to wonder why he wasn't more involved for Cincinnati. On Monday, the team clarified his status with an injury update.

Tee Higgins Injury Update

Bengals head coach Zac Taylor announced on Monday that Higgins is day-to-day with a sprained ankle, which presumably kept him off the field for most of Sunday night. The 23-year-old wideout only played 10 offensive snaps for Cincinnati (16%) and was not targeted once by Joe Burrow.

Higgins' injury may have cost the Bengals the game, as he was unable to make an impact and left the offense shorthanded. He's typically the team's No. 2 receiver after Ja'Marr Chase and was coming off his best game of the season in Week 4 after torching the Miami Dolphins for 124 receiving yards and a touchdown.

While ankle injuries can be tricky, Cincinnati is hopeful that Higgins and left tackle Jonah Williams (MCL sprain) will be able to return in Week 6 against the New Orleans Saints. The Bengals are currently 1.5-point road favorites against the Saints on FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds as they attempt to get back to .500.
