Taira vs Aguilar Prediction

Tatsura Taira has won each of his first two UFC bouts, taking down Carlos Candelario via unanimous decision (May 2022) and defeating CJ Vergara via submission (Oct. 2022). The 23-year-old out of Japan has wasted no time making a name for himself as a well-rounded and fierce opponent.

Jesus Aguilar is looking to follow in Taira's footsteps a bit. The 26-year-old out of Mexico is set to make his UFC debut at UFC Vegas 68 after earning a deal at Dana White's contender series back in August. Aguilar took down Erisson Ferreira thanks to a brilliant guillotine choke in the third round.

Every UFC fan knows that there's usually an underdog that comes out on top during a UFC Vegas event. However, don't expect that underdog to be Aguilar. Taira has shown composure well beyond his years and a versatility that is rare among fighters, making him a rising star on the UFC roster.

I'll side with Tatsura Taira to emerge victorious.

Taira vs Aguilar Best Bet

It's worth noting Taira has both a 3-inch height advantage and a 7.5-inch reach advantage over Aguilar, which will come in handy if this bout reaches the later rounds. As fighters tire out, any edge at all can be a big edge. All signs point to another comfortable victory for an exciting young fighter.

Of course, betting on a -1100 favorite won't bring back a great payout, though. Keep in mind Aguilar's only professional loss came via submission as he was defeated with a rear-naked choke in 2015. Taira is coming off a submission win of his own, so back the Japanese fighter to make it two in a row.

Bet: Taira by Submission (TBD)
