Florida and Florida State have faced off 65 times since their first meeting in 1958. The has been a fairly close rivalry, with the Gators notching 37 wins to Florida State's 26. There have also been two ties in the series.

The series has favored Florida State in five of the last eight matchups, although the Gators are on a three-game winning streak in this rivalry. Florida beat the Seminoles, 24-21, in last year's meeting.
