Fourteen NBA matchups are slated for Friday, Dec. 23, including a huge meeting between the Phoenix Suns (19-13) and Memphis Grizzlies (19-11).

The Suns enter this matchup following a 113-110 loss to the Washington Wizards on Tuesday. Meanwhile, the Grizzlies have been having a tough time lately, picking up their second loss in a row due to a 105-91 loss to the Denver Nuggets three nights ago.

Which of these Western Conference contenders will get back into the win column tonight?

The Grizzlies enter this contest as slight road favorites on the moneyline and spread per FanDuel Sportsbook's odds. This 10 p.m. ET clash also features an over/under of 226.5 points, which is about average compared to Friday's totals.

Suns vs. Grizzlies Betting Trends

  • The Grizzlies compiled a 51-30-1 ATS record last year.
  • Against the spread, as underdogs of 2 points or greater, the Suns went 5-4 last season.
  • Grizzlies games went over the point total 42 out of 82 times last season.
  • In 82 Suns games last season, 41 of them hit the over.

Suns vs. Grizzlies Prediction & Pick

The Suns have already ruled out Devin Booker (groin) for tonight's matchup and it's hard to like them without their top scorer. Since the 2018-19 NBA season, Phoenix is just 16-28 whenever Booker misses a game. They've also lost six of the last seven games that he's been sidelined for, including the latest loss to the Wizards, who sit fourth-last in the Eastern Conference.

Aside from Desmond Bane (toe), the Grizzlies will be at full strength tonight. They average 115.4 points this season (No. 8) and even though the Suns have the sixth-best offense (115.7 PPG), I can't see them being as successful without Booker.

Back the Grizzlies tonight to take advantage of the Suns' injury woes en route to a victory.

Final Score Prediction: Grizzlies: 114 | Suns: 109

Suns vs. Grizzlies Best Bet

It's hard to trust either team on the spread. The Grizzlies are 2-10 ATS in their last 12 road games while the Suns are 1-4 ATS in their last five home games against Memphis. As a result, I'm looking toward the total and backing the under as the best bet.

For starters, the total has gone under in five of Memphis' last seven games, as well as in seven of the last 10 Suns-Grizzlies clashes. In fact, all but one of those games fell under 226.5 points.

With the two sides also having two of the top-10 scoring defenses and Booker being absent, I'm even more confident backing the under.

Bet: Under 226.5 Points (-110)
