Sixers Relieved After Tyrese Maxey Injury Update

The Philadelphia 76ers were given a scare when Tyrese Maxey exited Friday's victory against the Milwaukee Bucks with a foot injury and didn't return. Though the third-year shooting guard isn't out of the woods just yet, his latest injury update has the 76ers breathing a sigh of relief.

NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski reported Friday night that Maxey's X-rays came back negative. An MRI on Saturday will reveal whether or not there's serious damage to his left foot, but the fact that there aren't any broken bones is a step in the right direction.

Even though the X-ray results brought good news, Maxey will likely be sidelined for a few games at minimum. 76ers head coach Doc Rivers told reporters after the game that his No. 1 SG is in a walking boot and that it could take some time before he's good to go.

Maxey looked electric before disaster struck on Friday. The former Kentucky product racked up 24 points on 75% shooting in nearly 21 minutes of action, adding 5 assists with 4 rebounds.

The 22-year-old had been a bright spot for the 76ers so far, averaging 22.9 points, 3.5 rebounds and 4.4 assists through 15 games. With James Harden also sidelined until at least December, it's clear that the Philadelphia backcourt will be in shambles for the foreseeable future.

Timberwolves vs 76ers Odds

It won't take long for Sixers fans to find out how a backcourt without both Harden and Maxey performs. Philadelphia is scheduled to take on the Minnesota Timberwolves at home on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET.

Unfortunately, oddsmakers predict that the 76ers could be in trouble without their top guards. FanDuel Sportsbook's NBA odds have them listed as 3.5-point home underdogs against the Timberwolves.
