Saratoga Horse Racing Picks for Wednesday 8/17/22

Updated:

Starting at 1:05 p.m. ET, we have 10 races Wednesday at Saratoga. Using
numberFire’s projections as a guide, here are some of the best bets to make at FanDuel Racing.

As always, check the program at "The Spa" for scratches and changes, and monitor the weather and track conditions.

(I will reference Equibase's Speed Figure in selected races, which tells you how fast a horse has been running in each of its races -- adjusted for track, distances, and conditions).

According to numberFire Racing's projections, these are the best bets to make at FanDuel Racing today.

1. Crypto Mama and U Glow Girl, Race 7

FanDuel Racing Odds: 7/2 and 5/2

Race 7 is the second race of the day for 2-year-old Maiden fillies at 6 furlongs. U Glow Girl (5/2) should take money after getting bet down as the favorite last race. Flavien Prat rides for EPO trainer Brad Cox.

Crypto Mama (3/1) was passing runners in her debut race in a slow pace, and she can move forward on a new surface in the good hands of jockey Joel Rosario.

2. Caramocha and U Guys are No Fun, Race 8

FanDuel Racing Odds: 7/2 and 5/2

Race 8 is an Allowance race for state bred fillies and mares at 1-mile. Six runners and Mia Bea Star (3/1) is in solid form with a pair of runner-up finishes her last two races. She finished in front of U Guys Are No Fun (5/2) in July, but 'U Guys' will prefer the cutback in distance with jockey Joel Rosario so good at bringing his capable horses strong down the stretch.

Caramocha (7/2) finished second twice at this level last year and will be better second race off a layoff. Debut runners Happy Warrior (8/1) and Risk Free (12/1) are ones to include in exacta and trifecta wagering.

3. Shinsun, Race 9

FanDuel Racing Odds: 8/1

Race 9 is the $150,000 NY Stallion Series Stakes for 3- year-olds going 1-mile on the inner turf. Dakota Gold (3/5) is the likely winner, and he'll be over bet at unfavorable odds with leading jockey Irad Ortiz, Jr. riding in a 10-horse field.

Shinsun (8/1) beat many of these in a Maiden race and showed good stretch speed. A good pace and jockey Luis Saez can get this one to close fast as he did for third place in Allowance company in his recent race.
