Starting at 4:00 p.m. ET, we have 9 races Saturday at Santa Anita at "The Great Race Place."

As always, check the program for scratches and changes, and monitor the weather and track conditions.

(I will reference Equibase's Speed Figure in selected races, which tells you how fast a horse has been running in each of its races -- adjusted for track, distances, and conditions).

Race 5 is a high-end Claiming race with 9 runners sprinting 6 furlongs on the turf. Top jockey Juan Hernandez rides the favorite, Lincoln City (3/1). The numberFire data projects the order of finish Maven (6/1), Inch 6//1) and Encroachment (4/1).

2. Mount Mary and Ragtime Rose, Race 7

FanDuel Racing Odds: 3/1 and 5/2

Race 7 is a Maiden Special Weight for 2-year-old fillies sprinting 6 furlongs on the turf. Mount Mary (3/1) rates the slight edge with top turf rider Umberto Rispoli trying to get her a stronger finish following a runner-up debut race in August.

Wirly Girly (5/1) and the favorite Ragtime Rose (5/2), off a runner-up finish here three weeks ago at long odds, are projected board hitters. The meet's winningest jockey Ramon Vazquez rides Electric Glide (4/1), who has a pair of third place finishes in two starts with slower speed figures.

3. Chicknfingerfriday and Luka Grazie, Race 9

FanDuel Racing Odds: 6/1 and 6/5

Race 9 is a Maiden Special Weight for Cal-bred 2-year-olds going 1-mile on the turf. The heavy favorite Luka Grazie (6/5) is the projected winner breaking from the outside No. 9 post. He finished third last race. Reckless Affair (5/1) and Chicknfingerfriday (6/1) will try to overcome slower speed figures in a race lacking speed.

Reckless Affair is a son of Kentucky Derby winner Always Dreaming, and he finished third in August at long odds. Chicknfingerfriday has finished third at lower odds.
