San Francisco 49ers Training Camp Dates, Schedule & Location 2022

Updated:

Teams across the NFL are preparing to ramp up for the 2022 regular season with the start of training camp. The San Francisco 49ers are one of the last squads to take the field as the preseason nears.

Here's everything 49ers fans need to know about training camp this year.

When Does San Francisco 49ers Training Camp Start?

Each team has two separate start dates for training camp, as rookies are often required to report a few days before veterans. However, that isn't the case for the 49ers. Instead, both San Francisco's rookies and vets will report to camp on Tuesday, July 26.

This gives just two weeks to prepare for the team's first preseason game on Aug. 12.

49ers Training Camp Dates 2022

49ers rookies and veterans will report for training camp on July 26. San Francisco will then host practices to get ready for its first preseason game on Aug. 12.

The 49ers' first preseason game is at home against the Green Bay Packers. San Francisco also plays again on Aug. 20 (@ Minnesota Vikings) and Aug. 25 (@ Houston Texans).

The 49ers will suit up on Sunday, Sept. 11 versus the Chicago Bears in Week 1 of the 2022 campaign.

49ers Training Camp News

Unsurprisingly, the 49ers' top training camp news surrounds veteran Jimmy Garoppolo, who's been hoping to be moved ever since management made it clear that Trey Lance is the quarterback going forward.

A shoulder injury prevented a deal from being done sooner, but now that he's healed, the 49ers granted Garoppolo permission to seek a trade earlier this week. Some of the rumored suitors include the Seattle Seahawks and Atlanta Falcons.

While there's no timetable for a trade, Garoppolo showing up to practice could be an unnecessary distraction. That's why general manager John Lynch must do what it takes to move the 30-year-old QB as quickly as possible in the coming days.
