Date: Sunday, Jan. 1, 2023
Time: 1 p.m. ET
Venue: Lincoln Financial Field — Philadelphia, PA
Coverage: FOX

Week 17 of the 2022 NFL season features an exciting slate of matchups, including an NFC showdown between the New Orleans Saints and Philadelphia Eagles.

The Saints picked up their second of back-to-back wins with a 17-10 effort against the Cleveland Browns on Christmas Eve. Meanwhile, the Eagles were also in action over the holiday weekend, losing 40-34 to the Dallas Cowboys in a game where Philly was without starting quarterback Jalen Hurts.

Do the Saints have what it takes to win three games in a row? Or will the Eagles rebound from last week's loss with a massive win at Lincoln Financial Field?

Saints vs Eagles Prediction & Pick

Momentum might be on the Saints' side, but I don't like their chances this weekend. New Orleans has six wins on the season and not one of them came against a team that's above .500 entering Week 17. Needless to say, it's hard to imagine Dennis Allen's team knocking off a Super Bowl contender.

After all, even with Gardner Minshew in for Hurts, the Eagles still put up 34 points against a strong Cowboys defense last week. There's also a decent-sized chance that Hurts plays this week after NFL insider Ian Rapoport reported on Sunday that the QB is only day-to-day with a shoulder sprain.

Additionally, the Saints have only scored an average of 10.8 points in their last four road games, whereas the Eagles are averaging 30.0 PPG at Lincoln Financial Field this season. With Philadelphia being a notoriously difficult place to play for visiting teams, I don't see New Orleans' luck changing on Sunday.

Final Score Prediction: Eagles: 28 | Saints: 18

Saints vs Eagles Betting Trends

- New Orleans is 1-4 against the spread (ATS) in its last five games against Philadelphia.
- Philadelphia is 8-2 straight up in its last 10 games against the NFC.
- The total has hit the over in five of New Orleans' last six road games against Philadelphia.
- The total has hit the over in each of Philadelphia's last six home games.

Saints vs Eagles Best Bet

As for the best bet, I'm looking toward the spread in this game. The Eagles are 6-1 ATS at home this season and have also covered the spread in four of their last five games against the Saints. Furthermore, New Orleans is only 2-5 ATS on the road in 2022.

Even if Minshew is back under center for Philadelphia, I'm still confident that he can outgun an Andy Dalton-led offense. The Eagles will win this one decisively to get back on track.

Bet: Eagles -7 (-110)
