Rumors Link Raiders to Star Quarterback Ahead of Free Agency

Updated:

The Las Vegas Raiders are one of a few teams looking for a new starting quarterback this offseason. Given their decision to move on from the very capable Derek Carr, it appears the Raiders want to aim bigger at QB.

Now the latest rumor connects Las Vegas to a true star talent ahead of free agent.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport mentioned the Raiders as a team that would "consider" signing Tom Brady this offseason if he doesn't return to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Rapoport highlights Brady has a few "old friends" in Las Vegas, including head coach Josh McDaniels.

The competition for Brady is expected to be fierce in 2023. Rapoport said there's "a chance" the seven-time Super Bowl champion doesn't re-up with the Bucs this offseason, which would open the door for a move. The Tennessee Titans and San Francisco 49ers were also mentioned as possible suitors.

The Raiders could offer the 45-year-old a familiar face in McDaniels, plus a true No. 1 option in Davante Adams. He'd be in position to do some serious damage with the likes of Adams, Darren Waller and Hunter Renfrow, plus running back Josh Jacobs if he re-signs in free agency.

Brady's arrival would also make Las Vegas a destination for veterans hoping to win a ring, helping this team get the help it desperately needs on defense to make a serious postseason run.
