Richard Sherman Has More Interceptions Than Touchdowns Allowed Over His Career

Updated:

Richard Sherman has spent the better part of the last decade as one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL. A down game in the 2019 Super Bowl drew some criticism, but there's no denying Sherman's track record as one of the best to ever play the position.

In fact, since Sherman entered the league in 2011, QBs have thrown over twice as many interceptions as touchdowns when targeting him in coverage.

Talk about impressive. With 35 interceptions in the regular season and another 4 in the playoffs, no player comes within even 10 interceptions of Sherman's total since he entered the league.

And at 32 years of age, Sherman still seems to be at the top of his game. He had 3 interceptions to just 1 touchdown allowed in 2019, and QBs only managed a passer rating of 64.1 on 69 targets when throwing at him.

Super Bowl struggles or not, Sherman should continue to anchor the secondary in a San Francisco 49ers defense that is one of the best in the NFL.
