Trevor Bauer was officially released by the Los Angeles Dodgers earlier this month after serving a 194-game suspension due to allegations of domestic violence and sexual assault.

Bauer, 32, hasn't received much interest since becoming a free agent. Similar to the Deshaun Watson situation in the NFL, teams are hesitant to sign someone with so much baggage and controversy off the field.

One team that's apparently not interested in Bauer is the Cincinnati Reds despite his previous success for them.

Trevor Bauer Reds Rumors

Given that Bauer pitched for the Reds from 2019-2020 and won the NL Cy Young with them in 2020, some have speculated about a potential reunion in Cincinnati. The Reds are reportedly not interested, however, despite their need for starting pitching after going 62-100 last year.

While Bauer could potentially help a team like Cincinnati, the Reds don't believe he's worth the trouble. They're also familiar with him from their time together, so perhaps he didn't make a great impression the first time around (he also has a reputation for being unlikable).

In addition to his personal issues, Bauer also hasn't pitched in an MLB game since June of 2021. If a team does sign him, there's no guarantee that he'll be the same pitcher he was before his suspension.

Accordingly, signing Bauer would be difficult for a team to justify. While somebody may ultimately take a chance on him, it doesn't seem like he'll be donning a Reds jersey in 2023.
