Reds Fans Will Love Joey Votto's Response to Potential Trade
It's safe to say that this isn't the most fun time to be a Cincinnati Reds fan. After missing the playoffs for the seventh time in the last eight years in 2021, the shortened 2022 offseason has amounted to little more than a fire sale.
Reds fans can use all the good feelings they can get right now, and who better to provide those than franchise legend and fan favorite Joey Votto.
Long one of the best hitters in baseball, it would be hard to blame the 38-year-old Votto if he wanted to end his career with a contender for a shot at a World Series. But as Reds fans know, that's not who Joey Votto is.
When asked about a potential trade, Votto's response was all class.
That’s the type of question you’d have to ask ownership and the front office. I have never once in my career asked or even whispered anything like that. I’ve been loyal to this uniform, to this city, to the contract that I signed. On my side of things, it’s never been something I’ve ever really prompted. I have a responsibility to the person that signs my checks. That’s not my question- Joey Votto
In an era of stars trying to force their way off of teams, Votto is showing full loyalty to the Reds and the city of Cincinnati.
There hasn't been a lot for Reds fans to get excited about lately, but this is the kind of good news they want to hear.
