Red Sox' Updated Chris Sale Rehab Schedule Revealed

Updated:

Another Chris Sale injury threw an early wrench into the Boston Red Sox' hopeful plans for the 2022 MLB season. Sale hasn't pitched at all this year thanks to a rib injury, but he's on the track back to the big leagues as he works through rehab outings.

Sale made his 2022 rehab debut at the Florida Complex League, throwing 22 pitches on Monday at the rookie-ball level. New reports now suggest the Red Sox have revealed Sale's next steps.

Chris Sale Injury Update

Red Sox insider Alex Speier reported on Tuesday morning that Sale will made one more rehab start with the rookie-ball team before heading to a "full season affiliate."

Sale may still be weeks away at this point, but he's moving in the right direction and that's all that the Red Sox can ask for at this point.

Red Sox News

Sale's latest injury troubles come on the heels of a Tommy John surgery in March of 2020. It's was a long road back before the ace of the staff made nine starts at the conclusion of last season.

Nonetheless, the Red Sox look to continue turning the page after a slow start. Boston jumped into third place in the AL East standings on Monday night, but still trail the blazing-hot New York Yankees by 13.5 games. Boston is, however, in contention for the AL Wild Card spots and holds +3600 odds to win the 2022 World Series on FanDuel Sportsbook.
