Ravens Request Big-Name Coach to Interview for Offensive Coordinator Job

Updated:

The Baltimore Ravens are in need of a new offensive coordinator after parting ways with Greg Roman after four seasons. It's easily the most important position needed on Baltimore's staff, a team looking to truly unlock the dynamic abilities of quarterback Lamar Jackson.

On Sunday, it was reported by NFL insider Adam Schefter, that the Ravens have requested an interview with one big-name coach.

Baltimore officially requested an interview with Kansas City Chiefs' OC Eric Bieniemy. Bieniemy is also in consideration for the Indianapolis Colts' head coaching role and the Tennessee Titans' vacant OC role.

This is an interesting development for Bieniemy, a coach infamously known for his inability to land a head coaching gig. The current Chiefs' staffer has been in contention for multiple head coach vacancies throughout the last few years, but for whatever reason, ends up coming short of landing the gigs.

This would be a lateral move, but an opportunity to continue working with a superstar quarterback. Though Jackson's playmaking profile is much different than Patrick Mahomes, these are two of the elite QBs in today's NFL. It is, however, an opportunity for Bieniemy to gain more control over game planning and play calling. Andy Reid is in heavy control of Kansas City's offense.
