Ravens Get Bad News With Latest Mark Andrews and Gus Edwards Injury Update

The Baltimore Ravens are slated for a huge Monday Night Football matchup against the New Orleans Saints in Week 9. Ravens fans have been worried that their team might be shorthanded, though, as starting tight end Mark Andrews and running back Gus Edwards have both been dealing with injuries.

Unfortunately, the latest injury update on the duo is far from good news. ESPN's Jamison Hensley reports that Andrews and Edwards missed Saturday's practice, putting their Week 9 status in jeopardy.

Mark Andrews Injury Update

Andrews has been dealing with shoulder and lower-body injuries for the last few weeks. Though he was able to suit up against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 8, he tweaked his shoulder in the victory and hasn't been able to practice since then.

With No. 1 wideout Rashod Bateman done for the season, the Ravens' passing game could be a disaster if Andrews misses time. The veteran TE leads all Baltimore players in targets (64), receptions (42), receiving yards (488) and touchdowns (5), so there's no doubt that any potential absence will be felt.

Though quarterback Lamar Jackson still has the likes of Devin Duvernay and Isaiah Likely at his disposal, the pickings are slim beyond that pair. Likely did step up with 6 catches for 77 yards and a TD after Andrews was removed from last week's game, but it'll be tough to trust the 22-year-old rookie to repeat that performance.

Gus Edwards Injury Update

Edwards has also been out of practice all week as he tries to recover from a hamstring injury. The former Miami Hurricane has been on the sidelines more often than not over the last few seasons, missing the entire 2021 campaign and the majority of the current season due to an ACL tear.

Edwards made his first start in 645 days back in Week 7, turning 16 carries into 66 rushing yards and a pair of touchdowns. Such a performance had many believing that his injury problems were behind him, but that clearly isn't the case. Hopefully, he can fully heal sooner rather than later.

In the meantime, Kenyan Drake will continue being the No. 1 RB in the Ravens' offense. He's been his team's most productive rusher over the last three games, recording 199 total yards from scrimmage with 2 touchdowns on 33 touches.

Even with their offense decimated by injuries, the Ravens are still favored to beat the Saints on Monday Night Football. FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds have Baltimore as 2.5-point favorites on the spread and -124 favorites on the moneyline.
