The NBA has six matchups slated for Thursday, Dec. 29, including an inter-conference battle between the Toronto Raptors (20-13) and Memphis Grizzlies (15-19).

The Grizzlies have been in a bit of a slump lately, losing for the fourth time in their last five games with a 125-108 loss to the Phoenix Suns on Tuesday. Meanwhile, the Raptors' winning streak was snapped at two games that same night with a 124-113 loss to the LA Clippers at home.

Can the Grizzlies pick up a win north of the border? Or will the Raptors further add to Memphis' recent woes?

  • Games involving the Grizzlies have hit the over 15 times out of 31 chances this season.
  • Raptors games this year have hit the over on 17 of 31 set point totals (54.8%).
  • Memphis owns a better record against the spread at home (11-4-0) than it does in away games (4-12-1).
  • Against the spread, Toronto has performed better at home (7-7-1) than away (6-9-1).

Raptors vs. Grizzlies Prediction & Pick

Although neither team has been good lately, the Raptors have been much worse, losing seven of their last nine games. What's even worse is that Toronto has lost four straight games at Scotiabank Arena, allowing opponents to score at least 124 points in three of those contests.

On top of that, the Raptors have a minus-7.8 scoring margin in those loss. That's not exactly inspiring considering how the Grizzlies average 115.2 points (No. 10) with the fifth-best scoring margin (plus-3.6) this season.

The Raptors could also be without Fred Vanvleet, who's questionable with a back injury after the loss to the Clippers. With Christian Koloko (knee) being questionable and Precious Achiuwa (ankle) already being ruled out, it's hard to imagine Toronto succeeding against a frustrated Memphis squad.

Back the Grizzlies re-discovering their groove in Canada.

Final Score Prediction: Grizzlies: 117 | Raptors: 107

Raptors vs. Grizzlies Best Bet

Ja Morant hasn't had much success against the Raptors, averaging 17.5 points on .377/.364/.800 splits in four previous meetings. Having said that, I feel like the Grizzlies' superstar is ready to change that trend tonight.

Morant's projected point total for the night is 25.5 and I'm confident that he can surpass that. Averaging 25 points in his last 10 games, he's with more than 25.5 six times with three of those occurrences happening in his last four outings.

After dropping 34 points against the Suns (a much tougher team than the Raptors) two nights ago, look for Morant to keep the momentum going tonight.

Bet: Ja Morant — Points: Over 25.5 (-113)
