The 2022-23 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs continue on Monday, May 1 with Game 7 of the first-round series between the New Jersey Devils and New York Rangers.

Everything is on the line in Game 7 after the Rangers' dominant Game 6 win over the Devils at Madison Square Garden. One team will move on and the other will go home for the offseason.

The Rangers did their job and avoided elimination with a convincing 5-2 win at home against the Devils on Saturday. Now they head back to the Prudential Center, where New York is 2-1 in this series. The Rangers dominated the first two games of the series there before getting shutout, 4-0, in Game 5.

New Jersey comes in as the slight home favorite despite getting trounced in Game 6, making this game close to a pick'em at FanDuel Sportsbook. The over/under is set at 5.5 goals.

Rangers vs Devils Betting Trends

  • The total has hit the under in seven of the Rangers' last 10 games.
  • The Rangers are 4-1 in their last five games played in May.
  • The total has gone over in four of New Jeysey's last five home games.
  • New Jersey is 8-4 in its last 12 games against Eastern Conference opponents.

Rangers vs Devils Prediction & Pick

The Rangers played their best game of the series in Game 6 and after lackluster Games 3, 4 and 5, it seems like the Blue Shirts are finally rolling again. They were aggressive on offense, creating traffic in front of the net that led to plenty of scoring opportunities.

I expect New York to ride the momentum into Game 7 and come away with the win. The Rangers finally broke through against Devils backup goalie Akira Schmid, who had held them to a combined 2 goals in three games before being lit up for 5 goals in Game 6.

The Rangers finally got their groove back on the power play, scoring a goal on one after going scoreless on them in Games 3-5. It's also encouraging that New York was able to generate plenty of offense at even strength as well.

Expect the Rangers to get out to an early lead and quiet the crowd on the way to the second round.

Final Score Prediction: Rangers: 3 | Devils: 1

Rangers vs Devils Best Bet

There has been a first-period goal in five of the six games in this series, and in three of them it happened in the first 10 minutes.

Five of the six games have seen penalties in the first 10 minutes as well, creating power plays and scoring chances. Four of those six games have seen multiple penalties in the first 10 minutes. If this trend continues, that just creates an even better opportunity for an early goal.

As we expect both teams to come out aggressively in Game 7, an early goal shouldn't be a surprise here.

Bet: 1st Period Goal in the First 10 Minutes (-130)
