The Rangers would love it if Dane Dunning performs well in his first start of the 2023 season. The veteran righty has made eight appearances out of the bullpen this season, pitching to a 1.77 ERA while allowing just 12 hits and five walks over 20 1/3 innings. Having said that, Dunning has a 7.20 ERA in his last two showings.

The Angels, meanwhile, are countering Dunning with Tyler Anderson. He hasn't been his usual self this season (5.74 ERA, 1.575 WHIP in five starts), but Anderson did pitch well in his last start, striking out seven batters while only giving up one run on five hits over 6 2/3 innings.

While the Rangers have been hot lately, I can't trust Dunning without any previous starts this season. He's also been lit up in his latest pair of appearances, whereas Anderson's play is trending upward. With Los Angeles scoring an average of 6.3 runs during its win streak, I don't see Dunning lasting that long.
