Meanwhile, quarterback Justin Herbert has never played a single snap in the preseason and that will continue with this contest. Veterans Chase Daniel and Easton Stick will see a majority of the playing time, instead. Head coach Brandon Staley recently called the two players co-backup quarterbacks.

While the Chargers may not have Herbert slinging it from the backfield, Daniel has proven to be a reliable NFL QB. The 35-year-old has completed 68.2% of his pass attempts for 1,694 yards and 8 touchdowns (7 interceptions). Grabbing an early lead will be all that's needed for a victory here.

When it comes down to it, there's simply more at stake for the Chargers here and that makes them the team to back. Both Daniel and Stick are motivated to prove they are worthy of the No. 2 QB spot. Rookie running back Isaiah Spiller will be looking to make a good first impression on the coaches, too.

It's worth noting that Wolford hasn't played in the preseason since 2019, either. He needed to have his appendix removed at this time last year, forcing him to miss to sit on the sidelines rather than suiting up. It wouldn't be surprising to see Wolford have to take some time to shake off the rust.
