Raiders vs Chargers Week 1 Game Info

2022 NFL Regular Season — Week 1 Game
Las Vegas Raiders (0-0, 0-0 Away) vs. Los Angeles Chargers (0-0, 0-0 Home)
Date: Sunday, September 11, 2022
Time: 4:25 p.m. ET
Venue: SoFi Stadium — Inglewood, CA
Coverage: CBS

The Las Vegas Raiders and Los Angeles Chargers meet head-to-head in a Week 1 NFL battle that could have early playoff implications. The Chargers made splashes in the offseason by trading for All-Pro linebacker Khalil Mack and re-signing wide receiver Mike Williams to a three-year contract.

Meanwhile, the Raiders pulled off a blockbuster deal to acquire All-Pro wide receiver Davante Adams from the Green Bay Packers. The combination of an elevated passing attack and a defense led by veteran players gives Las Vegas a chance to thrive under new head coach Josh McDaniels.

The Chargers enter this contest as a small favorite on the moneyline and the spread. This 4:25 p.m. ET clash also features the second-highest total of the NFL Week 1 slate.

Raiders vs Chargers Prediction & Pick

Divisional fights of this magnitude are usually not on the schedule in Week 1, but saved for later in the season. As a result, it makes projecting the winner even more difficult. This is a head-to-head series that has been dead even over the last four years with both teams grabbing four wins during that span.

The edge has to go to the Chargers here, though. They took down the Raiders by a score of 28-14 at SoFi Stadium in 2021 and have emerged victorious in each of their last three season openers. The idea of spoiling Adam's debut in the black and silver is right up head coach Brandon Staley's alley.

Final Score Prediction: Raiders: 24 | Chargers: 31

Raiders vs Chargers Betting Trends

- Las Vegas is 4-2 straight up in its last six games against the Chargers.
- The total has hit the under in six of Las Vegas' last nine away games.
- The Chargers are 2-5 against the spread (ATS) in their last seven games as a favorite.
- The total has hit the over in four of the Chargers' last six games against Las Vegas.

Raiders vs Chargers Best Bet

Offensive fireworks are expected in this game with a total set at 52.5 points. However, avoiding the total and focusing on the winning margin is a better route to take in this game. It's worth noting that five of the last six matchups between the Chargers and Raiders have finished within one possession.

Six of the Chargers' nine home games in 2021 also featured a score within one possession at the final whistle. The same thing can be said about four of the Raiders' eight away games, too. When it comes down to tit, a blowout is unlikely, so back the home team to win in a game that will be decided late.

Bet: Chargers Win by 1-13 Points (+145)
