2022-23 NCAA College Basketball Regular Season Game
Pittsburgh Panthers (4-3, 0-0 Away) vs. Northwestern Wildcats (5-1, 3-0 Home)
Date: Monday, Nov. 28, 2022
Time: 9 p.m. ET
Venue: Welsh-Ryan Arena — Evanston, IL
Coverage: ESPN2

The 2022-23 NCAA college basketball season continues on Monday, Nov. 28, including an ACC/Big Ten Challenge matchup between the Pittsburgh Panthers and Northwestern Wildcats.

Pittsburgh's played well lately ahead of this clash, winning its third straight game with an 80-64 victory over William & Mary on Friday. Continuing that success won't be easy, though, as Northwestern is hungry for a win after experiencing its first defeat of the campaign in the form of a 43-42 loss to Auburn last Wednesday.

Can Pittsburgh keep the ball rolling on the road tonight? Or will Northwestern get back on track with another strong performance at home?

Northwestern enters this contest as the clear favorite on the moneyline and spread per FanDuel Sportsbook's odds. This 9 p.m. ET clash also features an over/under of 128.5 points, which is fairly low compared to the rest of Monday's projected totals.

Pittsburgh vs Northwestern Prediction & Pick

Northwestern has found success this season due to its elite defense. The Wildcats allow the third-fewest points in the nation (51.7%) on a 32.2% field-goal and 26.3% three-point (No. 23) percentages. Furthermore, they force opponents to turn the ball over on 22.0% of possessions (No. 47).

While Pittsburgh hasn't been terrible this season, it's a lot worse on the road than it is at home. The Panthers average nearly 11 fewer points on the road (63.5 PPG) than they do at home (74.4 PPG) while also giving the ball away 15.5 times in away games.

Besides, Pittsburgh's winning streak has come against schools that are all below .500 at the moment. Northwestern is a completely different challenge that I don't think the road team is ready for, leading to another Wildcats victory.

Final Score Prediction: Northwestern: 64 | Pittsburgh: 59

Pittsburgh vs Northwestern Betting Trends

- Pittsburgh is 5-1 against the spread (ATS) in its last six games against the Big Ten.
- Northwestern is 5-0 straight up in its last five games as the favorite.
- The total has hit the over in four of Pittsburgh's last six games.
- The total has hit the under in each of Northwestern's last six games.

Pittsburgh vs Northwestern Best Bet

Even though I'm backing Northwestern to win, I expect the 6.5-point spread to be covered. The Wildcats are an underwhelming 1-5 against the spread (ATS) in their last six games against the ACC, whereas the Panthers are 5-1 ATS in their last six versus Big Ten opponents.

Northwestern has also never beaten Pittsburgh by seven-plus points. In fact, the Wildcats have lost five of their previous six bouts against the Panthers. Therefore, erring on the side of caution, I'm taking Pittsburgh on the spread.

Bet: Pittsburgh +6.5 (-110)
