The 2023 ACC basketball tournament bracket keeps rolling on Wednesday with four games of second round action. The second on the day's schedule is also the most lopsided in terms of seeding, with No. 13 Georgia Tech taking on No. 5 Pitt after defeating Florida State on Tuesday.

Pittsburgh vs Georgia Tech Odds & Spread

It's no surprise to see this one projected as a lopsided matchup. Georgia Tech finished the season 6-14 in conference play and barely edged out 7-13 Florida State last night. They'll also now be playing a back-to-back against a rested Pitt team that finished 14-6. Pitt also cruised to an 8-point win in their last head-to-head meeting and an 11-point win before that in January.

Pittsburgh vs Georgia Tech Betting Trends

  • Pittsburgh has 22 wins in 31 games against the spread this season.
  • The Panthers have an ATS record of 8-3 as 6.5-point favorites or greater.
  • Pittsburgh has played 31 games this year, and 19 of them have gone over the total.
  • Georgia Tech's record against the spread is 16-14-0.
  • Against the spread as 6.5-point underdogs or more, the Yellow Jackets are 6-7.
  • Out of Georgia Tech's 30 games so far this season, 14 have hit the over.

Pittsburgh vs Georgia Tech Prediction & Pick

As I mentioned above, Pitt and Georgia Tech have met twice this season, with Pitt winning by margins of 8 and 11 points. We've now got Pitt coming off three days of rest against a Georgia Tech team that will be playing on less than 24 hours of rest.

Georgia Tech also went all-in on their starters to eke out that win yesterday, with two playing the full 40 minutes and none playing fewer than 37.

Momentum is one thing, but that will be more than made up for by the edge in rest here. This one is going to get ugly, especially late when the Yellow Jackets get tired.

Prediction: Pitt 76 | Georgia Tech 62

Pittsburgh vs Georgia Tech Best Bet

Predicting a lopsided win, of course, I love betting Pitt on the spread here, but that's not the best way to approach this game.

I'm not one to give much credence to momentum or trying to predict a team coming in as rusty, but I do think that the ridiculous minutes Georgia Tech's starters played yesterday will start to take more and more of a toll as the game wears on.

Once Pitt is up late in the game I expect it to start snowballing, especially because a 3-point heavy team like Pitt (T18th in the nation with 9.4 made threes per game) can run up the score without much effort.

Best Bet: 2nd Half Alternate Spread: Pitt -6.5 (+162)
