Philadelphia 76ers Christmas Day Game History (All-Time Record and Results)

Updated:

Christmas and the NBA make a perfect pairing. The holiday has long been a featured part of the league's regular-season schedule, leading to some memorable moments.

One team that's no stranger to Christmas Day action is the Philadelphia 76ers. Here's everything you need to know about the 76ers' history on Christmas.

76ers Christmas Game History

The NBA made its Christmas Day debut in 1947, and the holiday has been a constant part of the league's regular-season schedule ever since.

Philadelphia played its first game on Dec. 25th in 1949 as the then-Syracuse Nationals. Syracuse won that contest 94-88 over the Anderson Packers. The Nationals played on Christmas Day 13 times before the team became the Philadelphia 76ers ahead of the 1963-64 campaign.

Philly made its first appearance as the 76ers on Christmas during the 1967-1968 season. The defending champion Sixers defeated the Baltimore Bullets 108-105 in that game, the first of 19 contests the franchise has played under its current name on Dec. 25th.

After a brief absence from the Christmas Day slate, Philly returned in 2022. The 76ers got the best of the New York Knicks, spoiling the holiday for the home team with a 119-112 victory. Joel Embiid led the way with 35 points.
