PGA Dark Horses

The Waste Management Open is usually the most fun event on tour. With rowdy crowds of over 100,000 people on Saturday alone every year, it provides an atmosphere no other tournament in golf can, majors included.

That being said, this year will obviously be different in that regard. We have already taken a look at the odds, as well as some players to consider for your fantasy team, but here we will go over some potential dark horse picks.

Waste Management Dark Horse Picks

Bubba Watson (+4500):
Bubba Watson has enjoyed plenty of success in years past at this course. A polarizing figure that fans seem to either love or hate, Watson has certainly made his mark plenty of times at TPC Scottsdale. In his 11 appearances in this event since 2010, Watson has 7 top-5 finishes and five top-five finishes, including a 3rd- and 4th-place finish the last two years, respectively. Getting these odds on a guy that has had this much success here shouldn't be ignored. Watson also has put up some solid outings in his last few events, grabbing three top-five finishes in his last five tournaments this season.

Ryan Palmer (+4600):
Ryan Palmer is admittedly hasn't played well at this event of late, only making the cut once in his last four starts here, but he has had success at TPC Scottsdale prior to that. In the four years before that, Palmer has two top-five finishes. Palmer is also playing some encouraging golf coming into this event. In his last five starts, he has three top-five finishes, including a T-2 at last week's Farmers Insurance Open.

Louis Oosthuizen (+6000):
Louis Oosthuizen doesn't have a lot of run on this course, but in his lone appearance in this event in 2017, he finished 3rd. He has placed in the top-30 in three of his last four events, including a top-5 finish two starts ago. So far this season, Oosthuizen has relied on his putter, ranking No. 5 on tour in Strokes Gained (SG): Putting, and No. 20 in SG: Total. A player who always seems to be in the mix at big tournaments, he could be someone that sneaks his way to the top of the leaderboard here.
