The Philadelphia 76ers (21-14) are set to host the New Orleans Pelicans (23-13) in one of 11 NBA matchups scheduled for Monday, Jan. 2.

After losing back-to-back outings, the 76ers responded with Saturday's 115-96 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder. Meanwhile, the Pelicans' five-game winning streak came to an end over the weekend with a 116-101 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies.

Can the 76ers register their 10th straight home win? Or will the Pelicans find a way to pull off the road upset?

Pelicans vs. 76ers Betting Trends

  • New Orleans is 4-2 against the spread (ATS) in its last six games.
  • Philadelphia is 7-2 straight up in its last nine games against New Orleans.
  • The total has hit the over in seven of New Orleans' last nine games.
  • The total has hit the under in each of Philadelphia's last five home games on Monday.

Pelicans vs. 76ers Prediction & Pick

Tonight marks the second Pelicans-76ers matchup in the last four days. New Orleans won 127-116 back at Smoothie King Center on Dec. 30, led by a 42-point effort from CJ McCollum. Even though the Sixers have the home-court advantage on their side tonight, I'm counting on another Pelicans victory.

For starters, the 76ers have made plenty of mistakes on offense lately, averaging 16.0 turnovers (eighth-most) while shooting 31.3% from three-point range (eighth-worst) over their last three games.

Secondly, the Pelicans won five straight games by an average of 8.8 points before losing to the Grizzlies. New Orleans has also shown the ability to bounce back, only recording multi-loss skids twice this season.

Throw in the fact that Joel Embiid (back) is questionable for tonight, I like the Pelicans' chances of an upset even more whether the 76ers superstar plays or not.

Final Score Prediction: Pelicans: 121 | 76ers: 117

Pelicans vs. 76ers Best Bet

I'm looking to the Pelicans on the spread for the best bet. On top of beating the 76ers a few days ago, the Pelicans are also 7-1 ATS in their last eight games against Philadelphia. Although the 76ers are 14-5 ATS at Wells Fargo Center this season, they've failed to cover the spread in two of their last three games and are 1-5 ATS in their last six against Southwest Division foes.

With a Pelicans upset being a real possibility, take them on the moneyline at plus odds.

Bet: Pelicans ML (+136)
