Mahomes lost his first AFC Championship appearance, 37-31, to the New England Patriots during the 2018-19 NFL Playoffs. He then led the Chiefs to a 35-24 win over the Tennessee Titans in 2019-20 before Kansas City went on to win Super Bowl 54.

Mahomes and the Chiefs returned to the AFC Championship Game last season, defeating the Buffalo Bills, 38-24, to advance to Super Bowl 55. Unfortunately, they ended up losing the Vince Lombardi Trophy to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers when all was said and done.
