Panthers vs Maulers Game Info
2022 USFL Regular Season Game
Michigan Panthers (1-8, 0-4 Away) vs. Pittsburgh Maulers (1-8, 0-4 Home)
Date: Sunday, June 19, 2022
Time: 12:00 p.m. ET
Venue: Legion Field — Birmingham, AL
Coverage: USA Network
The two worst teams in the USFL meet head-to-head on Sunday afternoon as the Michigan Panthers (1-8) take on the Pittsburgh Maulers (1-8). This game would usually have little to no meaning, so Executive VP of Football Operation Daryl Johnston recently announced an exciting rule change.
The winner of this game will not only be awarded the first pick of the 2023 USFL Draft, but it will get the first pick in every single round. Both of these teams need all the help they can get to acquire talent, so look for the players on the field to be giving their best efforts in order to secure a victory.

Moneyline: MICH: (-145) | PIT: (+125)
Spread: MICH: -3 (-110) | PIT: +3 (-110)
Total: 42.5 — Over: (-110) | Under: (-110)
Odds to Win USFL Championship: MICH: (N/A) | PIT: (N/A)
Oddsmakers have the Panthers slated as 3-point favorites in this matchup and there's an obvious reason why. Pittsburgh ranks dead last in points scored this season and cannot find a single quarterback capable of throwing touchdowns. In fact, neither of these teams average over 20 points per game, so seeing a total in the 40s is surprising.
Panthers vs Maulers Prediction
All USFL win predictions and picks are according to Athlon Sports.
Prediction: Michigan Panthers Win
Athlon Sports is siding with the favorite in this one and cites the Panthers' stability at quarterback as the deciding factor. Michigan's Josh Love and Eric Barriere combined to throw for 286 yards to go along with 3 touchdowns in Week 9. Meanwhile, the Maulers saw Vad Lee throw for only 146 yards, 1 touchdown and 2 interceptions. Backing the team with a better signal-caller seems safe.
Panthers vs Maulers Betting Trends
- Favorites have gone 27-9 straight up during the 2022 USFL season.
- Michigan is 3-6 against the spread (ATS) in its last nine games.
- Pittsburgh is 4-5 ATS in its last nine games.
- The total has hit the under in 13 of the USFL's 19 games this season with a total set at 40+ points.
Neither team has been stellar from a spread perspective, so betting on the total has much more value here. It's worth noting Pittsburgh ranks second-to-last averaging 256.1 yards per game and hasn't scored more than 18 points since Week 5. Their lack of firepower combined with the fact that 13 of the USFL's 19 games with a total set at 40+ points have gone under is enough to back it once again.
