While the Padres' start is impressive, it's happened without the club's best player, Fernando Tatis Jr., who's still recovering from a wrist injury.

The Padres would be even better with Tatis in the lineup, which is why San Diego fans are thrilled following the latest update on his situation. Assuming his recovery process stays on track, Tatis could be swinging a bat again shortly.

Tatis has been able to work on his defense by taking ground balls and practicing some relay throws. He'll undergo another CT scan on his wrist sometime this week, potentially getting to green light to work on his swing as long as the results come back clear.

Padres fans hope that Tatis can pick up from where he left off last season. Signing a 14-year, $340 million contract before the 2021 MLB campaign, the dynamic Dominican proved that he was worth every penny, finishing third in National League MVP voting after recording an NL-leading 42 home runs, along with 97 RBIs.

Even though the Padres are one of the better teams in the Majors, their 4.24 runs per game rank 12th-worst across all 30 teams. Getting a run producer like Tatis back in the lineup should help alleviate the issue, which is why San Diego shouldn't rush anything until he's ready.
