  • Time: 7:00 PM ET
  • Venue: Gainbridge Fieldhouse -- Indianapolis, Indiana
  • Coverage: BSIN and SportsNet

Eleven NBA matchups are slated for Monday, Jan. 2, including a clash at Gainbridge Fieldhouse between the Indiana Pacers (20-17) and Toronto Raptors (16-20).

The Pacers have begun clicking lately, winning their third straight game with a 131-130 effort against the LA Clippers on Saturday. Meanwhile, it's been three days since the Raptors' 113-104 win over the Phoenix Suns, led by Gary Trent Jr.'s game-high 35 points.

Can the Pacers extend their winning streak to four games in front of a rowdy home crowd? Or will the Raptors pick up a rare road win?

  • The Pacers have covered the spread 22 times this season (22-14-0).

  • This season, Pacers games have hit the over 17 times out of 33 chances.
  • Raptors games this season have gone over the total in 17 of 33 opportunities (51.5%).
  • Indiana owns a better record against the spread when playing at home (12-7-0) than it does on the road (10-7-0).
  • Against the spread, Toronto has performed better at home (8-8-1) than away (6-9-1).

Pacers vs. Raptors Prediction & Pick

In a matchup that can go either way, I'm siding with the Pacers. Although the Raptors won their last game, it came at home against an injury-plagued Suns team that has struggled on the road lately. Toronto hasn't exactly been impressive lately, losing eight of its last 11 games while averaging just 111.0 PPG (third-worst).

Meanwhile, the Pacers are on a three-game winning streak and have won five of their last six games. They've also generated 129-plus points in three consecutive outings, led by Tyrese Haliburton and his 22.6 points on .478/.407/.907 splits. Considering how the Raptors have struggled to put up points lately and could be without Fred VanVleet (questionable, back) again, I don't see how they can keep.

Expect another impressive performance by the Pacers as they outgun the Raptors.

Final Score Prediction: Pacers: 122 | Raptors: 117

Pacers vs. Raptors Best Bet

The Pacers haven't been perfect, but they should be just fine against the Raptors tonight. Toronto has lost 10 of its last 13 road games and only has a 31.3% winning percentage (5-11) as the underdog this season. On the other hand, the Pacers are 7-3 straight up as the favorite and have won three straight games at home.

With this being a pick 'em game, feel free to take the Pacers on either the moneyline or spread. As of writing, though, Indiana's spread odds have slightly more value.

Bet: Pacers -1 (-112)
