Orioles vs Blue Jays Prediction & Pick

After going 4-0 in his first six starts of the year, Orioles starting pitcher Kyle Gibson has been trending downward. The former MLB All-Star has lost each of his last three appearances, pitching to a 6.11 ERA while allowing 23 hits and five walks over 17.2 innings.

Meanwhile, Yusei Kikuchi has been nothing but solid for the Blue Jays thus far. The 31-year-old hurler is a perfect 5-0 with a 3.89 ERA heading into his ninth start. What's even more impressive is he only has a 2.87 ERA in a trio of starts at Rogers Centre, averaging a whopping 13.8 strikeouts per nine innings along the way.

While Gibson is capable of turning things around, it's extremely alarming that the Orioles have scored zero runs in his last three starts. Playing at Rogers Centre has also been hell for him in the past, pitching to a 5.96 ERA and 1.500 WHIP in four previous Toronto starts.

With both sides losing more often than they've won lately, I'll back the Jays to win thanks to the home-field advantage and Kikuchi's superior pitching.

Final Score Prediction: Blue Jays: 4 | Orioles: 3

Orioles vs Blue Jays Best Bet

I'm siding with the Under on the 9.5-run total as the best bet for tonight's festivities. For starters, the Under is 12-6-1 at Rogers Centre so far this season. Secondly, the Orioles and Blue Jays have combined for fewer than 9.5 runs in each of their last seven meetings, averaging 7.6 runs over that span.

With Kikuchi pitching well and Gibson due for a bounce-back showing sooner than later, the Under is the way to go.

Bet: Under 9.5 Total Runs (-122)
