The 2022-23 NBA season continues on Wednesday with 13 more games, including a battle between the Houston Rockets and Denver Nuggets. These teams met head-to-head at Ball Arena on Monday as the Nuggets emerged victorious by a score of 129-113. It was a close game at the start, though.

Denver led by just 2 points at halftime before riding a huge third quarter performance to a victory. Nikola Jokic paced the offense with 32 points, 13 rebounds and 8 assists. Alperen Sengun scored a team-high 18 points (7-of-14 shooting) for the Rockets, while Jalen Green chipped in with 9 assists.

Nuggets vs. Rockets Betting Trends

  • The Nuggets compiled a 36-44-2 record against the spread last season.
  • As 11.5-point underdogs or greater, the Rockets went 8-7-2 against the spread last season.
  • The Nuggets and their opponents combined to hit the over 47 out of 82 times last season.
  • There were 44 Rockets games (out of 82) that hit the over last season.

Nuggets vs. Rockets Prediction & Pick

It's hard to see the Rockets putting up much of a fight here. They played the Nuggets tough in the early going on Monday, but were destroyed by Jokic and the rest of the Denver big men in the paint during the second half. It makes sense as Houston ranks 28th in the NBA in defensive efficiency.

This is a matchup the Nuggets have simply dominated over the last few seasons. They have now beaten the Rockets in eight straight head-to-head matchups and are 6-2 against the spread (ATS) during that stretch. This is a great opportunity for Denver to keep building positive momentum.

Houston has not won at Ball Arena since November of 2018, so I'll trust the Nuggets here.

Final Score Prediction: Nuggets: 121 | Rockets: 111

Nuggets vs. Rockets Best Bet

There's a lot of potential for this game turning into another shootout. The Rockets play at the ninth-fastest pace in the NBA and aren't afraid to shoot early on in the shot clock. On the other side, the Nuggets rank fourth in offensive efficiency and average 116.4 points per home game (No. 10 in NBA).

Overall, the over has cashed in six of the last eight games between Houston and Denver. Both of these teams shot at least 45.9% from the floor on Monday and have had a day of rest to get back into top shape. In a game with Jokic, Green, Jamal Murray and Kevin Porter Jr. on the court, take the over.

Bet: Over 230.5 Points (-110)
