The NL MVP race was considered completely wide open heading into Opening Day. Juan Soto was a pretty sizable favorite in the MLB odds from FanDuel Sportsbook, but at +380 he was still already considered a long shot.

Of course, it's a long season, and things change quickly in the world of baseball. That's reflected in the betting markets too.

The current favorite in the 2022 NL MVP race is Paul Goldschmidt, with +220 odds. Mookie Betts isn't far behind at +360, and Manny Machado (+500) and Pete Alonso (+800) are the only other players with odds better than +1000. As for Soto? He's fallen to +5000, which has him tied for 11th.

Another player looking to win his first MVP, Manny Machado ranks third in the odds at +500 (16.7% implied probability).

Pete Alonso NL MVP Odds

The current National League home run leader (18), Pete Alonso ranks fourth in the NL MVP odds at +800. That gives the Mets slugger an implied probability of 11.1% to win the award in 2022.
