Nikola Jokic Posts Historic Stat Line in Nuggets’ Win

Any time an NBA player gets mentioned in the same sentence as Wilt Chamberlain, you know they've done something special.

That's what Nikola Jokic did on Sunday while leading the Denver Nuggets to a 119-115 win over the Charlotte Hornets.

Denver Nuggets News

All Jokic did was dominate the Hornets to the tune of 40 points, 27 rebounds, 10 assists and 2 steals, putting up a monster triple-double for the ages. He became the first player to go 40-25-10 since Wilt the Stilt in 1968

Sunday's game was easily the best of the year for Jokic, whose previous season-high was 16. The 40 points were just three shy of his season-best as well.

With season averages of 25.2 points, 10.9 rebounds and 9.0 assists, Jokic is averaging close to a triple-double. That's made him a contender for his third straight MVP award, as he currently has the fourth-best odds (+1000) on FanDuel Sportsbook's NBA odds. It won't be easy for him to overcome Jayson Tatum, Giannis Antetokounmpo and Luka Doncic, but with a few more big games he could start closing the gap.
