Teams across the NFL are preparing to ramp up for the 2022 regular season with the start of training camp. The New Orleans Saints are one of the first squads to take the field as the preseason nears.

Here's everything Saints fans need to know about training camp this year.

When Does New Orleans Saints Training Camp Start?

Each team has two separate start dates for training camp, as rookies are often required to report a few days before veterans. The Saints had one of the earlier starts of teams across the league, with rookies having already reported on Tuesday, July 19.

Then, on Tuesday, July 26, New Orleans' veterans are mandated to report for training camp. This gives just two weeks to prepare for the team's first preseason game on Aug. 13.

The Saints will host training camp at their practice facility in Metairie, Louisiana.

Saints Training Camp Dates 2022

Saints rookies already reported for training camp on July 23, followed by vets on July 26. New Orleans will then host practices to get ready for its first preseason game on Aug. 13.

The Saints' first preseason game is on the road against the Houston Texans. New Orleans also plays again on Aug. 19 (@ Green Bay Packers) and Aug. 26 (vs. Los Angeles Chargers).

The Saints will suit up on Sunday, Sept. 11 versus the Atlanta Falcons in Week 1 of the 2022 campaign.

While a few Saints are currently dealing with injuries, fans want to know how superstar wideout Michael Thomas' ankle is holding up. A setback in his recovery forced him to miss the full 2021 NFL season and it was clear that New Orleans' passing game wasn't the same without him.

Fortunately, Thomas is near his return. NFL insider Ian Rapoport reported this week that the Saints hope to have Thomas sometime during training camp and he shouldn't have any issue being available to begin the 2022 season.
