The Brooklyn Nets (32-20) are set to host the LA Clippers (30-26) in the first game of the post-Kyrie Irving era at 7:30 p.m. ET on Monday, Feb. 6.

The Nets have won three of their last four games, most recently picking up a 125-123 win against the Washington Wizards on Saturday. Meanwhile, the Clippers also have some momentum, entering tonight's contest following a 134-128 overtime win over the New York Knicks.

Can the Nets prove that they can still be successful without Irving? Or will the Clippers find a way to pick up the road win?

Nets vs. Clippers Prediction & Pick

It's going to be tough for the Nets to compete tonight with a depleted lineup. Kevin Durant (knee) and Seth Curry (hip) are already ruled out for the contest while Ben Simmons (knee) is questionable. On top of that, it remains to be seen if new acquisitions Spencer Dinwiddie and Dorian Finney-Smith will even suit up yet.

The Clippers shouldn't have an issue handling the Nets' injured-riddled lineup, especially with Kawhi Leonard and Paul George playing well. Leonard is averaging 29.2 points on .522/.436/.915 splits over his last 10 games while George is operating at a 24.5 PPG clip with a 51.4% field-goal percentage over his last six.

With the Clippers also having momentum stemming from their victory over the Knicks, they shouldn't have an issue with the shorthanded Nets tonight.

Final Score Prediction: Clippers: 116 | Nets: 108

Nets vs. Clippers Best Bet

As mentioned above, Kawhi Leonard has been playing some fantastic basketball lately. His impressive play has resulted in his having a projected point total of 28.5 for tonight and I'm confident that he could hit the over on it.

For starters, Leonard has gone over 28.5 points in eight of his last 13 games and is coming off a 35-point effort against the Knicks. Furthermore, the multi-time NBA Finals MVP is averaging 28.9 PPG in his last nine games against the Nets, finishing with 29 or more points in each of the last three meetings.

With most of the Nets' top players being out tonight, expect another solid performance from Leonard.

Bet: Kawhi Leonard — Points: Over 28.5 (-106)
