The 2022-23 NBA Playoffs officially begin this weekend, bringing much excitement to the basketball world. The No. 6 Brooklyn Nets (45-37) and No. 3 Philadelphia 76ers (54-28) begin their first-round playoff series with Game 1 taking place at Wells Fargo Center on Saturday, April 15.

Nets vs 76ers Game 1 Info

  • Date: Saturday, April 15, 2023
  • Time: 1 p.m. ET
  • Venue: Wells Fargo Center -- Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
  • Coverage: ESPN

The regular-season series between these two teams was about as lopsided as it comes. The 76ers won all four matchups against their Atlantic Division rivals, defeating the Nets by a whopping 29 points in their latest meeting on April 9.

Can the 76ers prove exactly why they're championship contenders in Game 1? Or will the Nets erase their regular-season shortcomings with an upset in Philly?

Nets vs 76ers Prediction & Pick

Although the Nets have impressed since Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving's departures, they're in for some trouble with the 76ers. Philadelphia is a deep team led by Joel Embiid and James Harden, who finished the regular season as the NBA's top scorer and assist-getter, respectively. The two of them alone are more talented than anyone that Brooklyn's rostering.

The 76ers proved that they are the better team by sweeping the Nets in the regular season, winning by an average margin of 11.3 points. Sure, the last meeting between the two sides was meaningless, but Brooklyn showed that it couldn't hang with Philadelphia from the get-go, trailing by 15 points after the first quarter.

The Nets will push at times, but the 76ers are a team that's built for the playoffs. Embiid and Harden will be too tough to slow down as the game goes on, resulting in a 1-0 series lead for the higher seed.

Final Score Prediction: 76ers: 118 | Nets: 110

Nets vs 76ers Best Bet

I see the 76ers getting a fair amount of offense tonight. After all, they averaged 121.8 points in their four encounters with the Nets this season and are averaging 135 points over their last two outings. While I expect Brooklyn to step up its defense a bit with it being the postseason, it won't be enough to slow down Philadelphia.

Considering how the Sixers finished with at least 114 points three times against the Nets this year, I'd be disappointed if they don't score at least that much tonight.

Bet: 76ers Alternative Total Points — Over 113.5 (+112)
