Nationals vs Diamondbacks Betting Trends

  • Washington is 1-4 straight up in its last five games against Arizona.
  • Arizona is 4-2 straight up in its last six games.
  • The total has hit the under in six of Washington's last eight road games.
  • The total has hit the under in four of Arizona's last five home games.

Nationals vs Diamondbacks Prediction & Pick

The Nationals are sending Josiah Gray to the mound, hoping that he can help extend their winning ways. The former Le Moyne College product's 2-4 record through six starts isn't glamorous, but his 2.67 ERA with 31 strikeouts over 33 2/3 innings is more than solid.

Gray must be at the top of his game to out-pitch Merrill Kelly. The Diamondbacks' starting arm has played to a 3.06 ERA and 1.299 WHIP with a 2-3 record in six appearances. Kelly hasn't been perfect though, allowing 5.0 walks per nine innings. With Arizona having a .430 slugging percentage (No. 9), he can't afford to load the bases.

In what should be a close game due to two strong starting pitchers, I predict that the D-backs will walk out with the victory. Arizona has won four of its last five outings against Washington and now returns home after a six-game trip, so I'm sure that the crowd will give the Diamondbacks a much-needed boost.

Needing a win to keep pace in the NL West, the Diamondbacks will be motivated enough to get the job done.

Final Score Prediction: Diamondbacks: 4 | Nationals: 3

Nationals vs Diamondbacks Best Bet

I'm sticking with the Under on the 9-run as the total for tonight's best bet. Both sides are no strangers to the Under as it's 6-2 in Washington's last eight road games as well as 4-1 in Arizona's previous five at home. With how well both Gray and Kelly have pitched, I have a tough time imagining a ton of offense at Chase Field this evening.

Bet: Under 9 Total Runs (+100)
