This WNBA series was projected to be one of the closest and the two teams proved that to be true on Thursday. It was a back-and-forth battle, but the Seattle Storm eventually emerged as the 86-83 victors, led by Breanna Stewart's 23-point, 12-rebound double-double.

The Washington Mystics don't have much to be ashamed about in their loss. Instead, they have to brush themselves off and come back stronger. One way they can do that is if Elena Delle Donne can build off her game-high 26-point effort from Game 1.

FiveThirtyEight leans towards the Storm here. At the end of the day, it's a contest that can go either way. Both the Storm and Mystics traded leads throughout Game 1, with Washington leading by as many as seven points, whereas Seattle's biggest lead was eight.

One thing that could help the Storm win is if the Mystics don't fix their disciplinary issue. Washington finished the series opener with 17 fouls while Seattle only had 11. All it would've taken was for the Storm to convert on three of their four missed free throws to send the game to overtime.
