The 2022 Myrtle Beach Bowl will pit the Marshall Thundering Herd (8-4) against the UConn Huskies (6-6) in what will surely be a thrilling game.

The 2022 edition of the Myrtle Beach Bowl will be played at Brooks Stadium in Conway, SC. Brooks Stadium serves as the home of the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers college football team and is known for its teal artificial turf. The stadium opened in 2003, seats 21,000 and is hosting for the third time.

The Myrtle Beach Bowl is scheduled during college football's bowl season. The game will be played on Monday, Dec. 19 at 2:30 p.m. ET and airs live on ESPN.

It's been a long time since UConn was in a bowl game. Ironically, that last appearance actually came against Marshall at the 2015 St. Petersburg Bowl, ending in a 16-10 victory for the Thundering Herd. Marshall has won a pair of bowl games since then, however, the most recent one came back in 2018.

Fortunately for Marshall, I expect its success to change this year. Though UConn has won three of its last four games, two of those victories came against Boston College and UMass, who have a combined 4-20 record. Sure, the Huskies did defeat a top FBS independent school too (Liberty), but that victory seems more like an anomaly.

UConn will have a tougher time against a Marshall defense that gives up the 10th-fewest points (18.4 PPG). Considering how the Huskies have an astonishing minus-16.8 scoring differential away from home in 2022, I don't see the Thundering Herd having any real issue putting the opposition away from the dust settles.
