MLB Insider Reveals Perfect Trade Deadline Fit for White Sox' Most Glaring Need

Updated:

It goes without saying that the Chicago White Sox have failed to meet the lofty expectations placed on their shoulders before the 2022 MLB season. They're only 5.5 back of first place in the AL Central, but it's more than clear that management needs to make changes to trigger a second-half turnaround.

The White Sox must improve in multiple areas, but MLB insider Mark Feinsand lists a left-handed outfield bat as the organization's top priority. The good news is that he has one specific player in mind that Chicago can realistically pursue.

White Sox Trade Rumors

Feinsand lists Arizona Diamondbacks veteran leftfielder David Peralta as a potential fit for the White Sox's outfield. The 34-year-old is also a free agent at the end of the year, meaning general manager Rick Hahn likely won't have to break the bank to improve his lineup.

Outfielders AJ Pollock and Adam Engel have struggled to produce offense, combining for just five home runs and 34 RBIs while both men are hovering around a .240 batting average. Meanwhile, Peralta has surpassed Pollock and Engel's output on his own. The former Silver Slugger has 11 HRs and 36 RBIs in 71 games and is also slashing .250/.318/.470.

The White Sox's .665 on-base plus slugging percentage (OPS) is fifth-worst in the Majors, so adding a player like Peralta, with an .841 OPS against southpaws, is necessary. He's likely one of the more popular names ahead of the deadline and Chicago must act quickly to land him.

White Sox World Series Odds

Acquiring a proven player like Peralta could have some positive effects on the White Sox's championship aspirations. As it stands, they're available at +3800 odds (T-No. 12) to win the 2022 World Series on FanDuel Sportsbook.
