Minnesota Wild First Round Playoff Schedule 2023 (Times, Dates and TV Channel for Stars Series)

Minnesota Wild First Round Playoff Schedule 2023 (Times, Dates and TV Channel for Stars Series)

Updated:

The Minnesota Wild are back in the NHL Playoffs for the fourth straight season following a successful 2022-23 regular season. Head coach Dean Evason's team has its sights set on earning the first Stanley Cup in franchise history, but up first is an opening round series against the Dallas Stars.

Here's everything you need to know about the Stars' first round series.

What Seed Are the Wild in the 2023 NHL Playoffs?

The Wild finished the 2022-23 NHL regular season with a 46-25-11 record, which earned them the No. 6 overall seed in the Western Conference. Kirill Kaprizov led the way for Minnesota, recording a team-high 40 goals and tallying an impressive 35 assists while playing in 67 games. The Wild's most recent playoff appearance came in 2022, when it fell to the St. Louis Blues in a six-game first round series.

Who Are the Wild Playing in the 2023 Playoffs?

As the third-place finisher in the Central Division, the Wild will play the Stars -- who posted the second-best record in the Central Division -- in the first round of the NHL Playoffs. This will be a typical best-of-seven series that follows the 2-2-1-1-1 format. That means the better seed (Dallas) will host Games 1 and 2, plus Games 5 and 7 if those are necessary. The worse seed (Minnesota) hosts Games 3 and 4, plus Game 6 if that is necessary.

Looking ahead, if the Wild win this series and advance, they would face either the 1-seed Colorado Avalanche or the Seattle Kraken (first wild card team) in the Western Conference semifinals.
